Building Blocks Gr1 Term 2: Sharing makes me shine!

Happy daysWow, can you believe it, we are already in the first week of June and at the halfway point of the year. We hope your class and home are happy, working hard and having fun while learning to read and write.

Building Block 2: Sharing

This term’s Building Block, Sharing will really help create an atmosphere of happiness in your class or home because when we share ‘who we are’, our ideas, our time and friendship we feel a great sense of happiness and this will have a huge impact on the people and environment around us.

That’s why I just love this term’s Building Block motto:

Everything begins to shine, when I decide to share what is mine.

If you have read the Sharing story, you would know that none us would want to live in a land like Wangle Shamangle Land where NO SHARING is allowed, not even your smiles! Can you imagine?

Sharing with other people makes me happy.

We tend to think of sharing as only sharing our belongings when in fact, it is so much deeper than that. The true concept of sharing is much broader and includes the sharing of friendship, love, abilities, ideas and opinions. When we happily share these things with others the positive impact we can have is endless! This is the learning concept we would want the children to understand through the class and home activities of this Building Block.

Have lots of fun singing the sharing song based on the tune from the song ‘ When the Saints come marching in’.

The words are:

“O when I share, oh when I share, oh when I share what’s mine I shine.

Oh when I share what’s mine I shine, Oh when I share what’s mine I shine.”

What a happier place our homes and classes would be if we all decided to really share our friendship, love, abilities, ideas and opinions and not only with the people we like but with everyone with who we come into contact.

Happy ‘shining’ this term!
