Who is Bru’Me?

Stories are the gateway to learning in the BUILDING BLOCKS curriculum. These stories revolve around the adventures of Bru’me, Musa Monkey, Sammy Squirrel and Thandi Tortoise and set the stage for all activities, games and discussions that follow.

Creating stories to teach the lesson

Often, parents know what they need to tell and teach their children but struggle to find the words or situations that best present the ‘lesson’. Our five original stories enable you to have meaningful conversations about truthfulness, confidence, kindness, responsibility and resilience in a ways that children can relate to easily.

Meet Bru’Me, Sammy Squirrel, Thandi Tortoise and Musa Monkey


Bru’Me is a typical, growing boy. He is curious and always ready for an adventure. He has a good heart and is hungry to learn about life.

Sammy the Squirrel

Sammy Squirrel is an albino squirrel. Other children often tease Sammy because she is different which makes her a little shy and unsure of herself.

Thandi Tortoise

Thandi Tortoise is very wise and has a strong sense of what is right and wrong. She is often a source of advice and perspective for her friends.

Musa Monkey

Musa Monkey is an energetic and mischievous little monkey who is always in the middle of the action.
