Social-Emotional Learning at Home

COOL TO BE ME provides home-based social-emotional learning programmes for children aged 5-10.

Grouped for specific age groups, our RED, BLUE AND GREEN boxes come with easy-to-follow instructions and are bursting with cool stories, activities, chats, games and loads of surprises creatively designed to:

  • Grow social and emotional intelligence,
  • Open the door to cool conversations,
  • Create strong, healthy family bonds,
  • Help define family values, and
  • Build confidence and resilience.

There are three COOL TO BE ME boxes that open the door to cool conversations that parents and children should have to facilitate a child’s social and emotional wellbeing at home and at school.

Cool conversations

What does every parent want for their child? How does every child want to feel? What does every child want to be when they grow up? A child’s journey to emotional and social wellbeing is facilitated primarily through their daily experiences and the conversations that follow with either themselves, their peers, their teachers or you, their parents.

Age appropriate and consistent

COOL TO BE ME boxes provide a consistent framework of experiences and words that guide children and their parents through these critical conversations. There is space within this framework for each family to infuse the conversation with their own values and beliefs.

CTBM helped me so that if someone says you are ugly, don’t listen to him and in your mind say “I am beautiful and I know who I am.” - Grade 6 student
“I just wanted to let you know that I've been reading Bouncing Back and the Telling Truth stories to my kids this past week. We've been reading a few chapters each night before going to bed. My son is four and a half and my daughter six and a half and in Grade 1. They have both absolutely LOVED them! We have had very late bedtimes as they've insisted that I keep reading! Even though they are both so young (and I thought too young which is why I hadn't read them the stories until now), they were completely compelled and fascinated! At the end of the each book, they both without any initiation started discussing some of the themes. After the bouncing back story, they both started to talk about some of things they had learnt in the day. From the 'learn the lesson and move on' refrain, my daughter told me that she had learnt that she can tell her friend NO if she doesn't want to do something! What an important thing to learn!” – Nicole, Cape Town
